Manufacturers grappa

The producers of Grappa in Italy are around 130. Not having reliable data from official sources, we estimate that about 63% of the distilleries located in the Northeast. Then the North-west with a percentage much lower, at around 23%. In the Centre-South, however, there are just over 14% of companies. The largest number of distilleries producing Grappa is located in Veneto where we count 45, and 38 are located in Trentino and 24 in Piedmont. Surprising that in Tuscany that are just four, like Sicily which has only three. The vines generally used for the production of Grappa are Moscato, Chardonnay, Cabernet, Pinot and Prosecco. The Italian market has had from 2000 to 2003 a steady growth in the consumption of Grappa; Since 2004, however, there has been a slow decrease. The bottles released for consumption increased from almost 36 million in 2003 to 32.5 million in 2007. In addition, the export of bottled Grappa has started to grow, reaching values higher than those of 2000, amounting to 22,417 ettanidri in 20013.
