The FARM U’ CASINU DA’ SCALA in Calabria in province of Cosenza was born from an old Manor House Country, (in Calabrian dialect Casinu) located at the center of a green valley, dating back probably to the second half of 1600.
A seasonal residence time was of large landowners and collection point for agricultural products, especially oil, wine and figs.
At the time the northeast side was used as a mill with millstone and wooden press.
The Southwest side , however, was occupied by the owner of the agricultural land, an ancient portal with loggia very well preserved, with views of the Gulf of St. Euphemia is testimony to the importance.
The manor house was destroyed by an earthquake in 1905, then it was partially rebuilt and the first half of 1900 is used as a residence by sharecroppers growers funds.
Then in 1956 the land reform takes place, both the land and the buildings are purchased due to savings achieved with hard work by sharecroppers and the enormous sacrifices of the householder emigrated.
In this manner it was formed the little hick we know today.
In this “Casinu” we obtained 9 finely furnished rooms with bathroom, heating and air conditioning.
The kitchen of our Agriturimo in the land of Calabria is simple and time to keep and a time to rediscover the flavors and authenticity of the products of the earth.
The menus we propose are inspired by the seasons and the products that our lands have to try to always offer customers notri a fresh and genuine product.
Our typical Calabrian cuisine is tasty, traditional and completely healthy.
We look forward to Casinu in San Pietro in Amantea to taste the real cuisine of Calabria.
