AZIENDA AGRICOLA BIO CASALE NIBBI of Francesco Nibbi, is located in the province of Rieti Amatrice, in an untouched area characterized by the persistence of age-old Italian peasant culture.
Nibbi family for five generations working in the livestock farming sector, combining ancient traditions with the tools offered by technological progress, putting himself in leading position in the local economy.
Having always worked a strategy of direct control of production and raw materials, the company now has about eighty hectares of land, of which are partly owned and partly leased, stables for the housing of livestock and local and workshops for the storage and processing of raw materials.
The destination of this land is in part intended to orchard, with a total area of about eleven hectares of which about eight to about three to apples and cherries. The remainder are used for the production of durum wheat, forage crops for livestock feed and pasture.
In our stables we have room for about 150 head of dairy cattle, bred in the semi-compatible with the various features of the climatic zone and fed with fodder produced on the farm; the production of our milk is then partially attributed to the social cooperative of Norcia, the bottling and the marketing as milk Supply of High Quality, and partly transformed in our dairy business in cheese and ricotta.
To ensure our customers the highest quality product at an affordable price and to itself the right revenue for their work, the company decided to place their products on the market by minimizing the use of third party mediators. Most of the production is sold directly from the farm or at fairs and markets.
To ensure a consistently excellent quality, beyond its seriousness and good will, the company has joined, over the years, the various European campaigns for the promotion and dissemination of organic farming: the result is that today can offer the ‘entire production scheme Certified Organic Agriculture.
We ni our land long rows of apple trees uninterrupted Plants; it almost seems to be in Val di Non, instead we have amateur Province of Rieti.
Our challenge has been to plant apple trees at an altitude of a thousand meters above sea level. This culture was practiced in our area, but our ambition was to create a large orchard and managed with techniques to be comparable to those of the Trentino.
This dream began in 1992, today has become a reality.
When we started planting the first plants we do not even imagine such a success: in Azienda Agricola Bio Casale Nibbi today we count about thirty thousand apple trees, an area of about eight hectares with an annual production of about 1,200 tons; 15 varieties of fruits. A decision in contrast with the great production that is used to prefer only 3 or 4 varieties. The production of our apples is in compliance with “all” standards for organic farming and eco-friendly: we use natural fertilizers, manure coming from our farms.
This organic farm in the province of Rieti is a point of reference for those who have decided for a healthy diet .
Recently we started a small production of apple juice 100% obtained by simple mechanical pressing. The produced and marketed without the addition of water, sugars, dyes and preservatives but closely stored at low temperature, less than 2 ° C
With the same technology and criteria of apples has been initiated, in the same period, a small cherry production, about 3,000 plants. This, far more apples, was a real challenge because there is no experience in Italian cherries grown at 1,000 meters above sea level. The particular location allows us to get a production for extraordinary quality and in a period of maturation considered impossible until now, the month of July.
