CANTINE SANDONNA is born from the passion for wine, a passion that has been handed down from generation to generation. In this cellar stand two important wines, the Ciliegiolo wine of Narni and the wine Grechetto.
The history of the Paciacconi family together with that of wine dates back to the 1960s. In the years, the first vineyards were planted and the winemaking experiments started.
It followed the marketing of wine, which marked the company’s road in the surrounding area.
Cantina Sandonna stands within the prosperous vineyards on the plateau from which it takes its name. It is located in the province of Terni, on the border with the Tuscia Viterbese at 292 meters above sea level. The structure is newly constructed and the building was built using traditional techniques.
We quote that the winery excludes any invasive oenological practices. Here, traditional methodologies such as spontaneous fermentation, gravity drainage and bottling in the absence or almost filtration are adopted. This is to highlight the varietal organoleptic nuances of wine. The vinification of the grapes takes place with the most modern fermentin in steel and develops into a room under the heart of the farm, the barricade. This is the place where wines grow in oak barrels that require longer refining times.

Noteworthy is the proximity to the vineyards. Because it allows quick pressing of grapes. This ensures greater integrity. While the effective temperature control system protects the aromatic and variety of musts. The plants are bred according to the classic Guyot method. They are fertilized exclusively with organic fertilizers. Any form of chemical disinfection is banned and the principles of organic farming are followed.
In a land made of history, the selection and planting of new vineyards could not start from protecting and enhancing native varieties. So the reference grapes are Ciliegiolo and Grechetto. They are handmade by pruning, picking sprouts and bunches, from slicing to grape harvest, to the use of scraping vines, or even abandoned elsewhere. The use of herbicides is practically banished
Here we find the ideal environment for the merlot and we also find the best producers of Umbrian wines. As for Montepulciano, it was assigned the task of representing the company. The winery also produces the best Italian sparkling wines. We highly recommend a visit to the Sandonna winery, which is embedded in a landscape still intact and of rare beauty The vineyards of the Sandonna Cellar are to the east of the country, which are part of a completely different context. Here the climatic influence of the river valley is amalgamated with that of the Apennine reliefs. For this reason, Sandonna lands, a very cool and ventilated microclimate and the largest daytime excursion to the surrounding area. This climate is particularly suitable for wine production.
