CASEIFICIO IL BATTISTERO produces the famous Parmigiano Reggiano cheese. It stands on the banks of the river Ceno, a few meters from the Baptistery of Serravalle. The dairy is among the best Italian dairies. Since 1939, the cheese that represents the Made in Italy in the world, the Parmigiano Reggiano, is processed with great passion and care.

It is useful to know that the dairy, unlike the other dairies in Emilia Romagna, has the privilege of using only milk from members’ farms in Val Ceno and Val Pessola. These are territories rich in water, woods and good air, in fact the dairy is located in the Apennines of Parma defined as the “Food Valley“.

Caseificio Il Battistero in addition to Parmigiano Reggiano, king of Italian cheeses, also produces other typical Italian products. Exquisite and delicious fresh and aged cheeses such as mozzarella, ricotta, scamorza and provolone but also delicious desserts and delicious specialties.

The cheeses are produced with the artisanal method. Parmigiano Reggiano is made only with milk, rennet and salt, yet every cheese is different. Even before the skill of the cheese makers comes into play, in fact, the quality of the cheese depends on what happens before processing in the dairy: from which the milk comes and as these are fed, bred and cuddled.

HOW THE PARMIGIANO REGGIANO IS BORNGUIDED TOURS
Il Caseificio Il Battistero takes guided tours on reservation. Through this path, it is possible to know the cheese production cycle. Moreover, in the spaces of the new sales point, tastings and workshops are also organized.
For primary school pupils, an educational workshop is proposed. This path allows you to discover how the cheese is born.

We are among the 8 dairies of the Province of Parma present in the publication. We have been chosen for the high quality of seasoning and attention to direct sale. That the Caseificio il Battistero was “slow food presidium” was already known, because the care that our master cheesemakers put into producing the king of cheeses has always been respectful of production times.
