CORTE SAN BENEDETTO is a young family-owned winery, but with deep roots in the cultivation of vineyards. The company cultivates and produces all the typical wines of the Valpolicella area, such as Amarone, Recioto, Valpolicella and Ripasso.
L’Azienda Agricola Corte San Benedetto is based in Arbizzano di Negrar, in the ancient rural court from which it took its name. Loris, a graduate in enology, works in the cellar and takes care of winemaking. While Angelo takes care of customer relations. Finally, Mariano, thanks to the long experience gained over the years, follows the cultivation of the vineyards. The company owns 18 hectares of vineyards, from which are produced all the typical wines of the area: Amarone, Recioto, Valpolicella e Ripasso.
To know that here in Valpolicella the bond is deep between vine and territory, and has very ancient origins. The most ancient attestation of the cultivation of the vine refers to the 5th century BC since it has been found a pre-Roman village of Archi di Castelrotto with numerous grape vines of vinifera.
Moreover, the name Valpolicella derives from the Latin “Vallis-polis-cellae” which means “Valleys with many cellars“. This is a theory also confirmed by the fact that the currently known wines, Valpolicella, Amarone and Recioto, are indicated as descendants of the Roman “Rhaetian” wine. The main characteristic of Valpolicella wines is that they are obtained from grapes from different native vines. They are regulated by the production specification.
