In 1300, on the top of a hill in Valtènesi, there was a convent where finds of an oil mill were found. In the same place, in 1960, the first milling plant of the Manestrini Agricultural Company was founded. For over 50 years the company produces the best Dop del Garda extra virgin olive oil. This oil is of high quality thanks to constant technological innovation and to the care of the typical cultivars of this territory.
The climate of Lake Garda is particularly temperate, as it is protected by the Alps and with an immense basin of water that mitigates the winters. By virtue of this climate, along the shores of the lake has developed a typically Mediterranean vegetation that promotes the cultivation and growth of the olive tree.
The olive groves of Frantoio Manestrini are located in the hilly area of Valtenesi, on the Brescia side of Lake Garda. The plantation of the property is composed of both adult olive trees (also centenarians) and young olive trees. In addition, there are hundreds of olive varieties in Italy, among these typical of Lake Garda are: Frantoio, Moraiolo, Leccino and Casaliva.
To know that the olives are subjected to important operations by automatic machines. The machines separate the foliage, which is sucked in and then wash the olives with water, thus eliminating residues and impurities. Following these we proceed with the pressing and the kneading from which we obtain the olive paste from which the oil will then be extracted.
The oil obtained at the end of these operations is a turbid and opalescent oil. In fact it is then subjected to a filtration process, which gives it a limpid and bright color, increasing its preservability. The oil mill is dedicated to the production of oil in different qualities including Garda Bresciano DOP Oil, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Casaliva Monocultivar Oil, Leccino Monocultivar Oil and finally Flavored Oils ideal to enrich the dishes of our cuisine.
Frantoio Manestrini not only dedicates itself to the production of different qualities of oil but also produces creams and patés, flavored condiments, vegetables in oil, ready sauces, pesto, wine vinegar, mustards, preserves, honey of different types, red and white wines, liqueurs, grappa and a line of beauty products such as soaps, shampoos and moisturizers.
