The city of Bari situated above sea level overlooking the Adriatic Sea for a length of about 40 km. The district is in the middle of a vast plain, the basin of Bari. The shape of the city is often displayed as an eagle with outstretched wings, whose head is the small peninsula on which is built the first town, Bari Vecchia. The city is definitely characterized by a Mediterranean climate, winters are mild continental and the summers are hot and dry. However in the winter months the city is often influenced by cold currents from the Balkans to the north-east and north-west by the mountains of Abruzzo, which sporadically determine snowfalls even at low altitude.Le piogge sono concentrate nei mesi invernali, nei mesi estivi vi è alternanza tra ondate di caldo torrido e caldo umido.
