The city of Como is located on the southern end of the western branch of Lake Como, in a small valley surrounded by wooded moraine hills. Directly borders with Switzerland and is situated about 40 km from Milan. The winter Como suffers partly mitigating influence of the mass of water lake. Low temperatures of the winter months can drop below freezing normally and are usually accompanied by high humidity. And entirely absent is instead the fog that characterizes the nearby Brianza and the Po valley. The summer is relatively hot, as the period of maximum temperature is rather short. Can be reached in some rare occasions 35°C. The rainfall is quite high. The area has a strong tendency to storms being at the foot of the mountains.
