The city of La Spezia is located on a narrow strip of land between the sea and mountains practically at the level of the sea . Due to the special shape of the gulf, well sheltered from the fury of storm surges and possible enemy attacks, has caused it to be built in La Spezia one of the largest arsenals of the Navy and you could develop one of the largest commercial ports in the Mediterranean Sea. La Spezia has mostly a temperate climate or a warm Mediterranean climate. However they are not infrequent incursions of cold air from the Balkans that they lower the temperature, making sometimes down the column below zero. The temperature in January, the coldest, is 7.6°C. Summers instead are characterized by relatively high temperatures, with averages of July, the hottest, above 24°C.
