The Great Reggio develops along the east coast of the Strait of Messina for about 32 km . The municipality of Reggio Calabria extends from a minimum level elevation of 0 meters to a maximum of 1803 m above sea level. The position of the city , located on the Strait and a few meters above sea level fosters a climate of Mediterranean type . In summer it is in the channel the cool sea breeze coming from the north and in the evening the updrafts dating Aspromonte help to make more bearable the high temperatures . In this zone the winter is mild and short , and the temperature is approaching almost never zero and the sun is almost constant , with about 300 sunny days a year.
